A Dream Realized: My Journey to a National Diploma in Agribusiness Management.
For many vulnerable women, access to small but reliable financial opportunities can become the turning point between survival and self-reliance.
This is the story of Asina Adiru, 28, a determined member of Eden Women CSCG, supported by CRESS Africa Foundation.
During the 2025/2026 savings cycle share-out, Asina received UGX 450,000 from her Community Savings and Credit Group (CSCG). While many immediate family needs competed for attention, she made a bold and strategic decision that reflects the true power of CSCGs and financial literacy.
She invested UGX 100,000 to start a small business selling silver fish and tomatoes within her community. What may appear as a small investment has now become a steady source of daily income, enabling her earn daily profit of UGX 10,000 to support her family’s basic needs while continuing to save consistently for the future.
Asina’s journey is a clear testimony that CSCGs are not only platforms for saving money, but engines for economic transformation, resilience, and dignity. Through collective savings, mentorship, and financial empowerment, women are gaining the confidence to invest, grow businesses, and break cycles of dependency.
Today, Asina is not only earning daily income but is also building hope for a more secure future for her family. Her story demonstrates that when vulnerable women are given access to financial opportunities and supportive community structures, they become powerful agents of change in their households and communities.
At CRESS Africa Foundation, we remain committed to strengthening Community Savings and Credit Groups as pathways toward self-reliance, household resilience, and sustainable livelihoods.
