Transforming Refugee Children’s Lives in Rhino Camp Through School Ministry
Last week, on August 5, 2025, Our Education Officer had the privilege of representing the CRESS Africa Foundation (CAF) at the Education Sector Working Group Meeting in Rhino Camp.
A key highlight was the urgent need to support the newly created Zone 8, which currently has no ECDs, primary, or secondary schools. The shortage of learning facilities, coupled with limited resources, has led to worrying attendance drops in the schools in Rhino Camp — 78% in ECDs, 87% in primary, and 81% in secondary.
Key action points agreed upon:
· Formation of a Village Education Committee
· Joint monitoring of ECD transitions to community schools
· School awareness campaign on Tuesday, 12th August 2025, at 2:30 PM
· A joint “Go Back to School” campaign to boost enrollment
· Partner contributions (1 carton of soda each) for SMC capacity-building sessions
Collaboration among Education partners will be vital in ensuring every child in Zone 8 has access to quality education and a brighter future.
