Beneficiaries: Our project targets refugee women and youth aged 18-45 in Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement and Imvepi Refugee Settlement to enhance their financial, vocational, and agricultural skills for economic self-sufficiency. We have empowered 9 Refugee Community Process Facilitators who have engaged 2520 beneficiaries, forming and mentoring 84 Community Savings and Credit Groups (CSCGs). These CSCG members will receive training in sustainable climate-smart agriculture in July. Additionally, we will provide vocational skills training, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and business management skills to members from their households. This holistic approach aims to improve access to financial services, create business opportunities, and enhance food security within the community.
Feedback: The project team has expressed increased confidence and competence in training the beneficiaries and roll out of the CSCG methodology as a result of significant increase in knowledge, skills, and understanding of the CSCG model. We plan to replicate this for the other 4 models.
Partnerships: We have been closely coordinating with Office of the Prime Minister through the Refugee Camp Commandant, the Community Development Officer of Uriama Sub County and Odupi Sub County, Terego District, and the leadership of Ocea Rhino and Imvepi Camps refugee local authorities and the churches in implementing this initiative. We also engaged associate consultants in the project planning and implementation.
